Saturday was such a brilliant sunny day!
Wonderful cruising weather!
After bacon rolls we were off.
Down a really peaceful Laleham Reach and on our way to Chertsey lock.
It was a perfect day. Blue, blue sky and great sun glistening on the river.
Past Chertsey Meads which are just wonderful water meadows
Once we got to Shepperton we seemed to catch up the world or it caught us up.
The lock was full to capacity.and outside it was mayhem with boats all over the river as there was not room to moor up! However, everyone seem to take the scenic route via the loop to Shepperton. We did not and ploughed down the Desborough Cut.
After Walton Bridge there was a rowing regatta so we were restricted to just half the river and as the sign said 'dead slow' we slowed to snails pace. We really did observe the warning board as we were very closely followed by an Environment Agency control boat.At Sunbury lock we had to wait in the sun as we just missed the gates!.
We were now on Hallmark's home territory. The last mile or so.
How many times have we been on this stretch!
Past Sunbury Court island and then Aquarius Sailing club and finally the big turn across the river to the mooring. Roy was there waving and welcoming us back.
The voyage back was completed with tea and cakes on the pontoon with Roy joined by Elizabeth!
